Capitalism leads to the misallocation of intellectual resources

Talented people, data scientists, software engineers who worked on honing their math and physics skills during their high school days, after studying/project work-ing on deep learning, IoT, etc.. go to work in the advertisement industry where they find more ways to make people buy stuff they don't need/want. Instead fields like healthcare and natural sciences lag back due to the unavailability of financial incentives. Such is the logic of the invisible hand of the free market. Now we just wait until there is some money making in the healthcare industry to make people buy things that they don't need, that these people start working on it.

Adani, Ambani - How they steal India's wealth to become rich

'Polyester prince' and 'Coal king': comprador bourgeoisie at its zenith Manish Azad ''Such is the story of a big India firm which through its faithful service to the British rulers went from 'rags to riches' and came to have diverse roles- the roles of indigenous bankers with close links with foreign capital, treasurers to the governments, merchants, landlords, industrialist and owner of mines.'' [''Suniti Kumar Ghosh'' The Indian Big Bourgeoisie: Its Genesis, Growth and Character p-190] The above example referring to pre-independence India is still relevant today; we only need to substitute ‘British rulers’ with ‘Indian rulers’. One recent example will clarify it further: Washington Post published a detailed report on December 9, 2022, about the Godda project of Gautam Adani. [https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2022/12/09/india-coal-gautam-adani-godda/] The report states that the electricity generated at the ‘Godda Power Plant...

Is Identity politics good?

Yes, the left has important things to learn from Identity Politics. But Liberal Bourgeois Identity Politics is crap. We’d be able to see a new universalism if these rigid divisions between so-called identity categories like race and gender and the category of class were overcome in a real, practical movement. If we were able to see organizations emerge and make real, concrete change in which they bridge those gaps — in which it would become impossible to say that “this is a white organization” or “this is a male-dominated organization” — it would necessarily involve challenging economic inequality and the class structures of American society. For a movement to arise, which tackled the fundamental structures of inequality, domination, and exploitation in American society in such a way that identity as a force of division could not exist — that would be a real universal moment.              - Asad Haider   HOW IDENTITY POLITICS HAS DIVIDED THE ...
