Is Identity politics good?
We’d be able to see a new universalism if these rigid divisions between so-called identity categories like race and gender and the category of class were overcome in a real, practical movement. If we were able to see organizations emerge and make real, concrete change in which they bridge those gaps — in which it would become impossible to say that “this is a white organization” or “this is a male-dominated organization” — it would necessarily involve challenging economic inequality and the class structures of American society. For a movement to arise, which tackled the fundamental structures of inequality, domination, and exploitation in American society in such a way that identity as a force of division could not exist — that would be a real universal moment.

HOW IDENTITY POLITICS HAS DIVIDED THE LEFT: AN INTERVIEW WITH ASAD HAIDER
Tips for Leftists born in Oppressor Communities:
1. No Appropriating Movements, Hijacking Leadership, etc...
2. Pass the mic - Don't overpower the voices of minorities. Instead, amplify their voices using your social capital.
3. Build Minority Leadership in Organizations. Make it a safe space for minority views, opinions and individuals.
4. Fight for diversity in powerful places.
5. Expose the oppressor communities. Don't just go to write and profit off of minority woes.
6. Educate, Reform and Organize your oppressor community against oppression. Fight for oppressed communities in the frontlines of lathi-charges (protests facing police violence) and in the background of media spotlights.
7. Fund and mobilize your resources in service of minority organizations and support their activities.
8. Overall, be a traitor to your community.
