Muslims are Socially and Economically Marginalized/Segregated in India
Summary
- Muslims (upper caste and lower caste) have lower economic standing than Hindu OBCs and are closer to SCs
- The difference in socio-economic outcomes are dependant on Segregationist Governance. Because here we see that when all social groups gain in education with time, Upper Caste Muslims experienced negative growth in Uttar Pradesh. Contrast this with the relatively large growth rate in Kerala (where the culture is less segregationist).
- Given such socio-economic depravity, one would expect Muslims to get the same level of Scholarships as SCs atleast. But, we see that Muslims are now getting lowest scholarships among all social groups. This is due to Anti-Muslim Government policies.
- Muslims live in segregated ghettos. The level of segregation is comparable to that of Black people in the US (who were/are subjected to decades of racial segregation).
- Muslim ghettos get much lesser public services - Schools, Hospitals, Water, etc..
- Segregation accounts for further less socio-economic outcomes for the next generation
